Usually, in led screen industry, it can be for rental purpose or permanent or fixed install depending on how you will use the led video wall. It can be for indoor use or outdoor use as well as per where you will use it. Those categories will decide the design details and manufacturing procedures of the led screen.
Differences between rental led screens and permanent led screens
Appearance: led screen for rental will come with a compact, high precision led cabinet of die-casting aluminum material, which can guarantee better levelness when cabinets are installed together to format a large screen. Because pixel pitches are required to be 2.6mm, 2.97mm and 3.91mm for rental screen, and any roughness happened to the alignment of cabinets will be easily noticed. Led screens for permanent install or fixed install usually come with bigger cabinet, such as 960mm*960mm. It can be iron steel or die-casting cabinet. In terms of the pixel pitch, it has options from 5mm, 6mm, 6.67mm, 8mm to 10mm. The less resolution like 8mm or 10mm are popular for large format led billboard, and it just require one-time installation.
Refresh Rate: rental led screen is required to be high refresh of 2,000Hz at least and 3,840Hz the best. Each live event or a DJ show with a led screen set-up, camera shooting at the led screen is inevitable. Sometimes live broadcasting is needed. So, the stage led screen with refresh rate up to 20,000Hz won’t flicker in front of the professional camera, and it could help to get better quality images or videos. Coming to the permanent led screen, it is usually installed at high place and has a far viewing distance, it doesn’t require to be very high refresh rate, 1,500Hz or 1,920Hz is better enough.
Accessories: LED screen installed for a stage will require those fitting parts like rigging bars, road cases, shackles, iron sling, truss, rigging motor and floor-standing truss, video processor, multimedia mixer etc. But it requires less accessories for permanent led screen. an installing structure, fiber converter, internet and so on.
Differences between outdoor led screen and indoor led screen
Manufacturing: Outdoor led screen is being used outdoor. So anti-weather is very important. Both outdoor led modules or outdoor led cabinet are waterproof and up to IP65 rated. At manufacturing procedures, there are epoxy gel injection on the surface of the led and rubber seal ring on every opening of the enclosure. For indoor led screen, manufacturing is easier and less costly.
LED type: Outdoor led screen uses led with special packaging that needs to work against high temperature, extreme cold or corrosion. While, led for Indoor led screen doesn’t need to deal with those difficulties. In terms of brightness, outdoor led screen will require higher brightness than indoor led screen. Brightness up to 5,500nits at least can help the content display on the led screen being spoted. Sometimes it needs to be higher brightness like 7,500nits or 9,000nits and 10,000nits in special area like California, Florida, those places with strong sunshine. For indoor use, higher brightness doesn’t help, vice versa, brightness of 500nits, 800nits or 1,200nits are recommended. Because higher brightness will hurt the eyes. People will no way to look at the led screen for a long time. That is against the purpose of getting attention of people for advertising branding.
