An outdoor LED billboard screen displays advertising videos or images. To clients, they expect the led billboard to convey their branding or messages to the audiences at a good resolution. Whereas the one who invested to install the led billboard would expect that it could work 24/7 without trouble. Is this what people can expect on a led billboard solution now? and how could the expectation be fulfilled?
Let’s just start from the design of the led cabinet. There is evidence that it took five years at least for a led cabinet of aluminum chassis to get popular in the market. It features better heat-dissipation via an aluminum chassis behind each led modules and lower power consumption. These two factors contribute to the fact that a led billboard screen can run with higher reliability. This upgrade can be considered one of the expectations and it was fulfilled so far.
If digging deeper into the topic of heat-dissipation via aluminum module chassis, could we have a smarter design? From all we know that aluminum material can transfer heat easily, if a design can reduce heat transfer from environment to the led components inside and it could lead the air flow to take away the heat generated from inside. Isn’t it a smart design?

This hollow-core slab looking led panel is the mentioned design. The ventilated ducts provide natural thermal insulation, reducing heat transfer. In other way, the ventilation air going through could help dissipate the heat coming inside. This design increases the span length of the led module, so it could be strong enough to support as part of led cabinet. This is innovation and unique from others, which is far beyond the expectation that people can have.

Now it is time for the topic of controlling system that makes sure the led billboard screen can run 24/7. Can you imagine that there would be an integrated chipset that embedded onto the hub board of the led cabinet, and it would work as what you know the receiving card? You may have seen it with fine pixel indoor screen. But now it would be possibility with outdoor led billboard screen. The advantage of this integration would reduce cost a little bit, and it could remind you as alarm of something happened. Could this be another one of the expectations to you?
The LED screen industry have come a long way till now; there are still some directions that we could work on. All we need to do is to jump out of where we used to be and look to other direction for new inspiration.
